International businesses
In international markets, Skipti has operations in the UK, Denmark, Sweden and Norway and currently the company´s activities are focused on  the corporate market. The total number of employees in the  international businesses at 31 December 2007 was 565 and the international operations represented about 20% of the total revenues of Skipti for 2007.

Skipti utilises its knowledge and expertise in servicing the corporate market in Iceland in its international expansion where the focus is to build a service offering for small and middle-sized companies that have similar needs and requirements as Skipti's domestic customers. The UK and the Nordic countries along with the Baltics have been identified as key markets in Skipti´s international expansion strategy. A great emphasis has also been placed on strengthening services to Icelandic companies with operations in these markets. Skipti expects these operations to grow and to facilitate that growth Skipti has opened offices in the UK and Denmark.

Domestic businesses
In the domestic market, Skipti operates on both residential and corporate front.  The companies within the group all support Skipti’s aims but with different perspectives

The largest company within the group is Síminn, the incumbent telecom operator in Iceland. The convergence that has been taking place in the telecommunications sector and information technology has led to new challenges in how to serve different customer segments and to structure businesses to improve their performance and maximise operational efficiency. The introduction of Skipti as a holding company, along with acquisitions and other organizational changes that have taken place in recent years, put Skipti in a prime position to lead the way in fulfilling and facilitating the possibilities of the digital existence that its customers have adopted.
